SEFF '16 Opening Ceremony

On Tuesday evening, August 18th, we invite you to watch the broadcast of the SEFF Opening Ceremony at TVP3 Szczecin. Both the studio audience and the viewers will have a chance to get familiar with the program of SEFF '16, meet the festival guests, and watch the official inauguration of the film holiday which is Szczecin European Film Festival. There will also be time for speeches by the representatives of the City of Szczecin and of the Marshal Office of the West Pomerania Voivodeship – the patrons of SEFF '16. The ceremony will be hosted by TVP3 presenter and journalist Paweł Wiśniewski. In the second, unofficial part, the studio guestswill watch “Et Hjem i Verden,” a film by Danish director Andreas Koefoed. The production has won the IDFA Award for Best Mid-Length Documentary.

The Partner of the Opening Ceremony is Szczecińska Energetyka Cieplna, West Pomerania's leading distributor of heat and electrical power vendor. Together with heating companies from Barlinek, Dębno, Łobez, Myślibórz, Połczyn-Zdrój, Słubice and Strzelec Krajeńskich, they create the SEC group.

 

Paweł Wiśniewski

Paweł Wiśniewski – economist, TV presenter, cultural manager. Since 2005 has been working for TVP3 Szczecin. Has co-created and hosted information, political, and social programs. He started his career as a journalist in 1999 in Polskie Radio Koszalin.

    “At Home in the World” is an intimate depiction of the everyday lives of five refugee children in a Danish Red Cross asylum school. All of different backgrounds, their families had fled to Denmark. Few are granted residency and go on to become part of Danish society; the rejected are sent back to their country of origin. Some continue their lives on the run, fleeing the atrocities of their homeland. Over the course of a year, we follow the children in an ever-changing environment. It is hard to create any bonds and the atmosphere is often tense, as the kids struggle with traumatic pasts. The teacher, Dorte, tries to create some security at the school. Earnestly engaged, she becomes close with the children and fights to bring out the best in them – so they can create a new home in the world.
