The story of a relationship between two men, which Özpetek tells us, connects elements of a romantic comedy, social film and powerful drama. Annamaria, a lonely mother of two, has to stay in the hospital, and so she decides to give the custody over her children to her friends of many years – Arturo and Alessandro. They have been together for over fifteen years but their life now boils down to routine and arguments, and their deep feeling became history. When their relationship is inevitably coming to an end, fate unexpectedly gives the protagonists another chance. Their friend’s kins turn their lives upside down, and the situation is definitely not made easier by the children’s grandma – an egoistic and stuffy aristocrat, who also wants to play her part.
